Comment : I believe the expectations that we build around the relationships are supported by the lies that we tell ourselves. We lie to ourselves because we want to convince ourselves that the expectations are okay to have and therefore get into the vicious circle of expectations affecting our happiness from any relationship that we consider close to out heart.

They say we meet parts of 'Self' we don't even know about when in close relationships. I understood that I lie to myself convincingly and believe in my lie with all my heart. But through him, with what I experience (which mocks my lie unabashedly to my face) I know how I trick my own Self. Share something about you?

Comment : Almost the same

What do you do when you connect to a person very well while texting, but can hardly feel the connection in person. Is it that the other person responds over texts after thinking but can't respond well because he hardly gets any time to think when he finds you sitting right across? What do you do about the awkward silences that follow?

Comment : I think with us independent women our sense of independence comes majorly from being able to spend our own money and that is why we shy away from accepting any money from any other person. But the thing is when we get married we are choosing to let our husbands be responsible for us just as our parents were before getting married. I believe when your husband wants you to accept his money and spend it is because its his way of showing his responsibilities towards you I don't think you should feel bad about it at all. There is no way you are letting go of your individuality or independence when you choose to spend that money.

I was working for more than seven years before getting married and moving countries. I had to quit my job in the process and have no earnings of my own. It's true that partners contribute to the marriage in ways other than money, but having been independent for so long, I'm unable to spend my husband's money as my own, even on essentials. Do I need to get over it, and if yes, how?
