Boyfriend’s mother emotionally blackmailing him to not marry me, what should I do?

Office Woman in Stress

Question: I love a boy and he loves me too. The problem is that he is a Sikh and I am a Christian. Both our families know about our relationship and my family has no problem with it. But his family will not accept our relationship. After my parents got to know about us, both the fathers met and his father told mine that our alliance is impossible. Anyway, even after that when we didn’t separate. But now his mother is emotionally blackmailing him using her health. What to do?

This is a tricky situation to be in.

Does love conquer all? Find out how marriages across cultures and religions can be made to work.

However, there isn’t much that you can do except to continue speaking with your partner regularly. Understand, what’s going on in his mind and help him think this through. Both of you must work together keeping in mind the best and worst case scenarios, depending on your relationship goals.

After all you’re adults and have a right to marry each other. As long as you and your partner are on the same page, there shouldn’t be a problem. Are you both on the same page? That’s the big question that you both need to figure out.

All the best,
