How important is it to criticize your partner? Refraining from criticizing can avoid many confrontations at home but how many can curb the urge to do so.

  1. It is always in the tone. If you speak down to your partner, s/he will feel small. Also, when you have the urge to criticise, it is best to do so when you are alone. After all, if the idea is to get one up on her/him, the relationship may not be based on an equal ratio. Don’t you think?

  2. A good criticism can always help partners to be better in managing their lives. But care has to be taken while delivering it.

It could be simple ones aimed at improving their partner’s cooking skills such as, ‘I loved your dish, but do you know adding this spice actually helps? My mom used to’. Or something to help them in workplace – ‘you should never wear green. Lilac suits you more’

Therefore criticism should be taken and delivered in the right spirit.
