Do important dates/ milestones make or break a relationship?

There are a lot of people – men and women – who hit the roof if the partner/ spouse happens to miss an anniversary or a birthday or a specific milestone day. Is it really that important to call quits over or is there a more mature way of handling this?

  1. If you know your spouse is prone to forgetting, perhaps remind them a few times in advance. Carelessness does not mean lack of care. We all have shortcomings and sometimes we can forgive in a few in those we love. And if it is a one off case of forgetfulness then just let it pass. Perhaps they have been stressed about something else. In either case forgiveness will ensure you two enjoy the day and make memories instead of fighting.

  2. True Priyam. Sometimes it helps to overlook minute misses for the benefit of the larger picture but again for some, a miss is a miss.

  3. For some it is just a date, but for others missing it shows that the person does not prioritise the relationship. None the less, in the bigger scheme of things I think we should forgive our partner If they miss a date or two, as long as the value the relationship otherwise.
