Finances after marriage

Whiel even today a man usually takes the bills while dating, and happily so in my case. I am wondering if that changes after marriage, especially with the woman working. How do we go from taking the tab to suddenly expecting the woman to pay. Shouldn't one be more of a gentleman to one's wife?

  1. Men paying the bill is a sterotype and typical in Indian society. However, when we talk about equal opportunity for women, most of the women today do not sigh away from the financial responsibilites. Sustaining marriage is a tem effort and both need to pitch in (if both are earning) to keep it smooth and going. This works for me at least :)*p*

  2. Money is important and relationships can break for lack of communication. So sometimes I feel it may be needed to clarify. Though of course, the woman paying is no sign of inferiority.*p*

  3. Being gentleman has nothing to do with splitting your bills. Sometimes splitting bills is also gentlemen-ly if the woman in front likes to do it. Men paying for the expenses is a stereotyped concept which has been there since always. And, it's not marriage which changes anything. A man shouldn't have any problem or shouldn't feel inferior if his girlfriend/wife is paying for stuff sometime or the other. We shouldn't let money be a point of discussion which is dictating anything in a marriage or any relationship.*p*

  4. This rarely happnes I feel. I am working and before I got married, my husband used to pay all the bills. Those days I asked him many times to let me pay a few of them. But he never agreed. And now when we are married, I even don't bother to think who is going to pay bill. It's his resposibility always. By default .*p*

  5. When you are married you are one, don't let any factor come in between you both, operate as two body one soul you will be peaceful and happy.same question you will never face with parents because obvious they are our parents same affection if you have for wife , u won't feel pinch, it's as if u r spending on ur own self.*p*
