Got married or moved in together? How would the GST affect or benefit you?

When you start living together or get married, it can impact your tax situation. Some of the changes occur immediately  – for example, your eligibility for the GST/HST credit) and other changes impact you when you file your tax return. What happens when your marital status changes?

  1. Let us see. Ups and downs in schemes seem to affect funds but people seem to shake down and move on with life anyway. Nothing is so earth shattering that you are left unable to cope. You might stagger but you will get up and march right on…*p*

  2. With all the hullabaloo around, I was bit anxious that this morning, I would get to hear the episodes of disaster due to GST. My business self told me that the transition will be hard but disciplines. But the detractors were going so much bizarre! VAT69 renamed as GST69 kind of bizarre. *p**p*You don't make relationships thinking about taxes government imposes. It shouldn't matter. Definitely. *p*

  3. Well I am already married, but do need to consider finances for the kids now. It is early to say, though, will wait for a month or two to pass before taking a stock of the situation.*p*
