If a married woman is expected to respect her husband’s family, aren’t they supposed to respect her back or at least acknowledge her efforts?

Why is a married woman subjected to certain expectations but asked to keep her own expectations at the backseat?

  1. True. Respect should always be mutual. It's the androcentric construct that affirms a certain degree of respect saved for the male and his family. But when it comes to giving that respect back, it becomes optional.*p*

  2. You hit the bulls eye! This is what patriarchy is all about! However, whatever we may say a woman is supposed to always put themselves at back seat! *p*
