Joint family or nuclear

I live in a nuclear family with my husband and children. Sometimes either family side visits and the house becomes a happy joint family. I wonder what it is like living in a joint family as opposed to a nuclear family? Is there a better option? Any experiences?

  1. It is so much better to live in a joint family. There is no loneliness and the kids are always taken care of. They learn to adjust and accomodate. Unfortunately I live in a nuclear family coz of no option. *p*

  2. I don't have a real life experience but based on a vicarious one I can say that it can be hell or heaven…if all live in harmony and love then it's great otherwise not..*p**p*Bit nowadays I hear more examples of only adjustments in joint families and not real that case nuclear is better..*p**p*yoi feel happiness when relatives meet because it is for a while only ..if have to live with them then may not be so rosy..*p**p*So celebrate what u have …*p**p* *p**p* *p*

  3. I & my husband live in a separate apartment. My in laws & rest of the family live in the same premises as us but in different apartments & on different floors. I like to call ourselves a semi-joint family. *p**p*During occasions & festivals we all gather at my in-laws place.  We have dinners together as one family. *p**p*I feel it's a good experience as I like my own space & at the same time I share a close bond with my mother in law. *p**p*Let's just say it's best of both the worlds – nuclear as well as joint family. *p*
