Marriage- License to Take Partners for Granted

Why do people take their partners for granted, esp after marriage. I hate the concept of- shadi ho gayi, ab kahan jaegi’?

How can we know that we are being ‘taken for granted’? We are doing things because we love that person, whether it is your spouse, friend or elder. Then how can we judge that we are being taken for granted? Where should we draw a line in a social relationship?

An employment is a relationship where we can draw a line. An employment is an association where we can put conditions. However, that too we cannot if we need the job dearly. I have never put any conditions on my employers because all my life I have been the more needy participant of the employment contract.

I think there are two types of ‘taking for granted’. One is the kind where you think you are not answerable for your actions as the other person cannot go anywhere. That is not right. But the other is knowing that you are love unconditionally and your mistakes and shortcomings will be forgiven. That perhaps is one reason to stay married
