Respect is very important in a relationship. Why don’t most Indian women understand this?

I hate it when I find women loving the fact that they get a second class citizen treatment in their homes. Why don't they understand the fact that they deserve all the love and regard?

I guess since the general mentality is that the society is male dominated and this thought even prevails today. Its rare to find spouses/families in general to have adopted the liberal mentality and this depends on each individuals change. Even today divorcee or separation is still frowned upon plus I find that although the family welcomes the newly wed daughter in law promising to be treated like a daughter, that very rarely happens. So the difference in treatment cause she just comes from a different family n background.*p*

Because of their upbringing and education. Majority of them fail to come out of the shadow of their fathers or the other elders (males) in the house. Sometimes they are pampered to the level of making them blind to these inequalities. They are given a specific gender role and they are meant to follow that. It's the androcentric construct that even women abide by. Be it for the sake of society or their parents, they do live like a second class citizen in their homes. *p*

Maximum women are still conditioned by the age-old customs and traditions. It's never easy to get rid off those, fearing they would hurt their close ones. We are always trying our best to impress and satisfy others. In the process we never think of ourselves. If we think of ourselves even for a second, we feel guilty, as if we are committing a big crime. Such poor sentiments! Sentiment or love should set us free and not bind us. We are trained not to love ourselves but others. But unless we love ourselves we cannot get love from others.*p*
