We need to educate women on different forms of abuse in relationship. They need to be aware so that they can speak up. Best ways to do this?

  1. Through women's self help groups that is active in a particular locality/town/district. Use communication gadgets to post short videos to depict differnt forms of abuse. Most importantly, we need to start at the grass root level- educate young adults(women) -high school and college about different forms of abuse so that they are well aware of it and identify the tell tale signs of an abusive person before committing/entering into a relationship*p*

  2. Yes. talking about things that matter within families is crucial. We must work on this as a community and  a country.*p*

  3. True. I think the internet can help spreading the word quite efficiently.*p*

  4. The trouble with India is that abuse against women often goes unrecognized in the guise of "culture".*p**p*I think physical abuse starts from the day women are told to lose weight to "look pretty" in their trousseau. Emotional abuse starts when they are compelled to make choices to fit the wedding market and the husband's family- while boys are never told they will have to adjust in any way!*p**p*Awareness has to start young. And if possible from mothers/ family.*p*

  5. We should take advantage of all forms of media to make people aware of all forms of abuse. We should break the silence within families too.*p*

  6. There are many possible ways. These days anything get viral over the internet. So, we need to spread the right message among the right set of group (generally youth) and let it reach every woman. They should be aware of all the forms of exploitation and how to fight it. Youtube videos, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter etc can be a channel to forward all the messages. Even workshops to teach them about all this.
