what are the challenges and perks of being single?

Nobody likes to be told. Let's keep common sense aside and ask ourselves – are we really enjoying our freedom? Are we already doing things that we always wanted to do? Be it traveling, sex, professional commitments or anything that stimulates your mind. If you are single because you want to, let's share why and what it that is keeping you ticking?

  1. I am 28, single! Partly by choice, and partly, because it never worked out with the one or two I really liked.*p**p*I am happy being the way I am. I enjoy the time I spend with my parents, sibling, grandfather. I am allowed to wake up 'late', eat whatever I want to, meet friends, work, quit my job to puruse something more, watch TV whenever I want to, relax… in short, do everything my heart wants! And I am not answerable to anyone (apart from my parents, who always know what I am upto!)  *p**p*I practice Buddhism, spend time meditating, feeding my mind and soul with books and articles that catch my fancy. I read. At times, write. I love my alone time. And I am really happy being in the space I am in.*p**p*To be honest, I don't really know what it is like to be in a relationship. Hence, I am not sure if I would be happier or better off being in one.*p**p*My singlehood has been great! And each day, I learn to love and appreciate myself. Grow, improve…*p**p*Not saying that I wouldn't be able to do all that in a relationship. But I don't think there is anything amiss in my life without a significant other either :)*p*

  2. Hi! I think it is perfectly OKAY to not be where your other friends are. That is their journey, their destiny. And I always believe that wherever we are at the moment, is a result of a conscious choice made in the past. Now whether right or wrong, that comes in hindsight. But at that moment, we wanted just that. So it's alright if my classmates are VPs or CEOs. Most of my friends are professionally very high up… most married.. some with kids. And here I am. But this is me, and I very happy – single, still finding my passion, a 'good job', chasing my dreams. And I am ready to wait :)*p*

  3. Why do not you wtite a piece on the same. Requesting you for it because it's not just you and I, who are facing this will help many but of course there are lots of 'us' out there, somewhere!*p**p*Glad to know that I am not the only one whose going through something similar. Besides, your insights will certainly be helpful to many. Thanks! πŸ˜‰ *p*
