What do you think is the reason behind open-marriages gaining acceptability?

As of lately, we have seen more and more couples coming out and declaring their marriage open.
What do you think is the reason behind open-marriages gaining ground?

  1. The idea and concept of marriage is changing. Sometimes I think its odd that people are actually agreeing on this. But then I am sure that have a logic behind this. Just wondering, will this marriage really work, when everything is so open. Marriages are mostly about commitments, trust, friendship and it is supposed to be a private affair of two people. If it is open, then is it really marriage. Why bind. Just live together.

  2. For some, it might be like exploring more and more sexual experiences that might give them more insights into the kind of sex life they wish from their partner or simply for the sake of fun. Or maybe, such couples see open marriages just like any other marriage, with its own set of rules and negotiations. But mutual consent has to be an important factor. Though I wonder if such marriages last in the long run…
