Divorce has become the reality of today’s relationships. But we totally agree with what Amy Poehler has written in her autobiography: “Divorce is always good news”. Because divorce lets one shed the negativities in their life and gives everyone a second chance to rebuild life.

Whatever the reason behind a divorce, betrayals or compatibility issues, rebuilding life after a divorce is a tough task for everyone, including both celebrities and regular people. In this kind of situation, it is always nice to find a successful example so the newly separated can feel “I too can do it”.

There are a few who has been managing nicely and showing others how it is done and Farhan Akhtar is one of those few. He has been constructively working towards rebuilding his life after his separation in 2016. His divorce was finalised in 2017. He had a long marriage of 16 years and has two kids from it. Building something after breaking up something this permanent is tough.

Farhan’s goal has been an overall healthy and fulfilling life, which includes physical health, emotional wellbeing, social awareness and creative satisfaction.

1. Physical health

When one is going through a bad phase it is too easy to fall into the trap of self pity, overeating, drinking and smoking. To lead a good life good health is most important. Farhan is known for a perfect body with a regular gym schedule.

Recently he has started cycling in a big way too. In fact, for Christmas when the whole of Mumbai was partying, he was busy cycling all over the whole city.

2. Career

Even if immediately after divorce one is mopey and doesn’t want to do anything, still one needs to get back to work ASAP. That is a huge part of rebuilding a life. Apart from the money angle, there is always something to look forward to if one has a serious career. If one does not need money, still they need a serious passion just to keep the mind distracted and creative. Farhan is one of the lucky few who have made careers out of their passions.

His careers/passions include singing, acting and movie making. He has been busy in all three, in addition to few TV appearances. Among the films he made last year, Raees and Fukrey Returns were successful. His acting in Lucknow Central was appreciated by all. He has taken a sabbatical from acting to concentrate on the third film of his successful Don franchise. In 2018, he is looking forward to release of his film Gold. This Akshay Kumar starrer is about the Olympic Hockey gold medal win by India in 1948. He has been performing live whenever he gets a chance.

3. Respecting women

After a failed relationship, sometimes we put all people of opposite gender in one single box with our ex and start despising them. Farhan not only rejects this irrationality, but he has actually lots of respect for women. In 2013 he has started a social campaign called Men Against Rape and Discrimination or MARD. Time and time again he talks about women’s rights and feminism. He had written an open letter to his daughter about rape too.

4. Bonding with children

After a divorce, co-parenting kids become a big issue. The kids should not be pampered, neglected or forced into choosing sides. Farhan’s share their times with both parents. Farhan makes it a point to spend quality time with his children. He welcomed New Year away from glittering parties in Austria with his daughter.

5. New relationships

There have been whispers about Farhan’s relationships with many beautiful girls. But he is not committing officially to any news. He is not in a hurry. He’s enjoying singlehood now, because rushing into another relationship after a breakup would be only a rebound. He thinks whatever has to happen will happen.
