How should you react when your partner goes berserk out of nowhere, should you shout as well, should you act calm, should you analyze the situation? Deepak Kashyap the counsellor of Bonobology and renowned Psychologist answers that on Bonobology.com FB live session
Anger is a powerful emotion which can create disturbance in a relationship or married life if unchecked. If anger, in a relationship, gets out of control, it would be difficult for a relationship to survive. When you are in a relationship with an angry person, a lot of wisdom is required to keep the relationship healthy. And also, it becomes necessary to establish some firm boundaries. You should know what to do and what not to do if your partner is angry.
What to do when your partner is angry?
Boundaries are a way of recognizing that all relationships require mutual respect in order to flourish. It’s a way to build and preserve healthy relationships.
Resentment and anger in a relationship often stem when the partners are not comfortable with each other, they are often disappointed with one or the other thing, they are not heard, their opinions are not valued, or they are in a relationship just for the sake of it.
Partners need to understand each other and if one of the partners gets angry, the other should calm him/her down and try to understand the situation to keep the relationship healthy.
Ways to deal with anger in relationships
People often get angry because they think they are not being listened to or taken seriously. So, the other partner should engage in active listening techniques to ensure that your partner feels heard.
Anger fuels anger, so the other partner should remain calm and handle the situation maturely. Do not scream back at your partner, try to find out a solution and sort out the matter whatever it may be.
