Oh, it can’t be stressed enough! Water is the most natural way to lubricate your vagina internally, thus diminishing the foul smell. Drink enough water so that every time you pee the stream looks clear to light. If it’s yellowish then you need to drink more water. However, if you are on a certain type of medication or antibiotics it can change the colour of your pee.

Get trimmed

In this age and time hair vs. no hair is no longer a universal debate. You don’t need to wax your vag, but keeping the bush trimmed, dry and clean is a must for attaining better vaginal health. The more hair you have down under the more it becomes a sanctuary for bacteria overgrowth which ultimately leads to a bad odour. It’s also become difficult to clean the area well if it’s not trimmed well.

4. Say hello to probiotics

Probiotics are known to be gut-friendly, but did you know they are also your vag’s best friend? Fermented vegetables, yogurt, kimchi, kefir etc. are superfoods for keeping your vagina odour free. Adding probiotic yogurt to your everyday diet, for example, is a great way to restore the normal vaginal pH level which ultimately leads to odour free vagina.

5. Choose the right kind of underwear fabric

We know the satins and lacy ones feels wonderful on the body, looks gorgeous, but it can also cause moisture build up and restrict the air flow. While not every woman is equally sensitive when it comes to the fabric of the underwear, but if you are prone to develop yeast infections then cotton underwear is the best pick for you to keep the area dry and clean.

Final words of wisdom – don’t fall for feminine sprays (they are unhealthy and essentially a marketing trap), change your underwear every 12 hours to prevent bacteria growth, carry your own wipes when going out to clean the vag from any moisture build-up and always change your underwear after a workout. And repeat after me, smelly or not, all vaginas are beautiful.

This is a topic that is not commonly spoken about so thanks for this article it has been informative. Vaginal odour can be very embarrassing.

  2. It’s difficult for us girls to find some authentic and good articles on female hygiene. And more so ‘coz its a taboo subject. While majority of girls face this, nobody openly discusses these issues.
