An alumni of the prestigious Indian Statistical Institute, Sinjini Sengupta is an Actuary by profession and by passion, a writer, columnist, screenplay writer, poet, and also an artist in acrylic and charcoal painting.

As a poet, she won the national level English Poetry contest – Rhyme India – hosted by Times of India in 2016 and five of her poems were picked up to be published in the Feminist Poetry anthology “She The Shakti”.

In fictions, she won the South Asian FON award in 2017 to be published in an anthology. One of her stories recently made into a short-film got selected at the 69th Cannes Film Festival, 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival among many others, and won best film award in Caleidoscope (Boston), Best Director in Kolkata International festival.

As a screenplay writer, Sinjini was awarded the best Screenplay award at the International Film Festival organized by Pickurfilms, from among 550 films from across the world.

She received the “Iconic Woman” award at the Women Economic Forum in 2017.

As a columnist, she has been listed among the Top Ten women bloggers in India.

Sinjini was also awarded the prestigious Orange Flowers Awards 2016 for her social columns. Sinjini writes (and speaks) mainly on gender issues, social reforms and on parenting in Huffington Post, Speaking Tree, Youth Ki Awaaz, Anandabazaar Patrika, Readomania, Our Front Cover, Baby Destination, World of Moms, Feministaa and several popular magazines.

As a public speaker, Sinjini represented Dist 41 (India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan) in the Quarterfinals of the World Public Speaking contest in May 2017. She delivered her first TEDx talk in November 2017 in which she spoke about the sensibilities and social reward systems for Gender Neutral Parenting, and how through slight changes in actions and thoughts we can strive towards a better world.

Sinjini\'s first novel ELIXIR was published recently. Sinjini was signed on spot after one of screenings of Elixir the film, and was happy to sign her first book contract before she even began writing its manuscript. Elixir is a story of every woman which Sinjini portrays through the set up of dual lives of reality and dreams, and how someone transcends through her regular vulnerabilities into a sense of self and fulfillment. ELIXIR has topped the Amazon charts at rank 3 over the weeks since its launch in mid November.
