Valentine and growing old – Contest

Lovers day

Roses are red and violets are blue

Garlic can stink and valentine’s day too

Red flowers and chocolates, some trinkets divine

I have no care for them, my love they don’t define.

A bunch of flowers that shall not last

Some shed tears courtesy sentimental cards

All those gifts that will gather dust

No care for expensive dinners -Tell you I must.

Red big hearts and giant red balloons.

Sappy, mushy songs- radio sings the tunes.

Strawberry muffins and red velvet cakes

All together this hype to me is fake.

You may think I am a cynic with no love in my life

But that’s not true, I am a beloved wife.

All the mush in the world, it has no bearing

This marriage has sense of humor and selective hearing.

My love is about sharing a cuppa tea

In the terrace, the wind blowing free.

Staring at the stars, the whole night

The rule of Saturday evening – you shall not fight.

Watching old movies snuggled in the couch

There’s history and future, there is love and no doubt,

Those violets will wilt and roses shall die

While we are doing it, the baby will cry!

The day after valentines, the shops are stuck

Some chocolates not sold, cupcakes, a day old

They come at half price (so I am told)

I like to celebrate love, don’t get me wrong

But the red is loud and the hype is too strong

All that sentimentality on facebook to like

To hell with it cupid, just take a hike.

Come valentine

I wish you happiness, elevating love and wishes that come true

I wish you joy and bliss, not one day but all the year through.

I wish you an inspired journey with beautiful twists

I wish you find someone, that you can grow old with.

Spread the love
