Vaishali Chandorkar Chitale
Vaishali Chandorkar-Chitale was trained as a journalist and worked for many years as a teacher. She now lives in Mumbai. "Life is never single dimensional as we all know, We have to experience happiness, loss and heartache for us to live and grow.’ These lines, written by Vaishali in her poem, “Beautiful Life” defines her oeuvre. She believes in living each moment and savouring every aspect that life has to offer. She realised early on that life is not just a bed of roses but it has its shares of thorns too. Her writing—short stories and poems— reflects this very reality. A graduate of English literature from Hindu College, Delhi University and an alumna of IIMC (Journalism) she has covered human interest stories for various publications which helped her develop her writing and observation skills. She has worked as an educator and moulded young minds to fight injustice and to live with honour. A prolific writer, her stories and poems have won many awards and certificates and have been published in many paperbacks to date. She is the recipient of second and third prize in Asian Literary Society’s Wordsmith awards , for years 2023 and 2021, respectively. She has also been declared a winner and awarded trophies by Story Mirror and Writefluence for her poems. Her debut book of poems, “Whispers of Immortality” published in 2022, has garnered rave reviews by poetry lovers and adorn many book shelves. A freelance editor, she has seven anthologies to her credit and more in the pipeline.
