They survived a long-distance relationship

When Sundar got a scholarship to study MS in engineering and materials science at the Stanford University in 1995, Anjali stayed back in India. They wouldn’t communicate for months because Sundar did not have the money to make that single call to her. It was tough for both of them to be without communication in a long-distance relationship, but their bond helped them survive.

Apparently they went 6 months at a stretch without talking to each other.

They complement each other

She is worth $22 million, and he is worth $150 million. She is a chemical engineer who worked at Accenture from 1999 to 2002 and is now the Business Operations Manager at Intuit. Sundar Pichai goes to her for advice on career decisions, and it was she who told him to stay on with Google despite getting lucrative offers from other IT giants. Anjali had the confidence that Sundar Pichai would rise from product manager to CEO of Google.
