8 things you should do before getting your first bikini wax

Whether you are a first-timer or a regular, there are certain things that you should do to ensure that your pubic hair comes off easily and grows slowly. Grooming in all aspects is essential and therefore it is important to pay attention to even the small factors to ensure that this experience of yours does not turn out to be a painful struggle. Here are 8 bikini wax hacks.

1. Check out the salon

You are going here the first time and thus you need to be sure of the place where you are getting this Brazilian wax done. Remember, that area is a very sensitive one and thus you need to make sure that it is handled with care. Check out whether the salon is clean enough and hygienic as per your needs and preferences.

2. Let the hair grow a bit

Many people start freaking out even when they see a less than a quarter growing out of their skin. Keep in mind that it is you cannot get out the hair properly unless it has grown adequately enough to be pulled out. Let your hair grow to at least an inch for it to be suitable to be pulled out. Unless the wax can get hold of the hairs, it won’t be able to pull it off.

3. Exfoliate well

It is important to exfoliate the area below the waist too. Exfoliating the skin a day before your waxing appointment will help remove dead cells. This in turn will help soften the surface of your skin and will help you with your ingrown hairs by lifting them and coming off easily.

4. Avoid shaving

You might prefer to use razors because it takes less time and helps remove the hairs easily. But razors tend to make the texture of the hair more coarse and bushy, making it grow even faster than normal. Moreover, razors give rise to ingrowth. If you feel like using the razor, make sure you shave at least 2-3 weeks before your waxing appointment.

5. Avoid going during periods

During periods, things get even messier and more uncomfortable. It is always more desirable to go for waxing the bikini area when you do not have your periods. Keep your period cycle in mind while making an appointment with your waxing specialist. If they happen unexpectedly, use a tampon and make sure that your wax specialist knows about it.

6. Take a shower

It is desirable to take a shower about an hour before your appointment. Bathing makes the skin and the hair softer, making it easier for the hairs to pull off without it paining that much. Plus, it is always better to go for such things with a clean mind and body.

7. Avoid moisturisers

You should never use moisturisers before or after going for Brazilian wax. Using moisturisers will hamper the effectiveness of the wax by making it difficult to grip onto the hairs and pulling them out. This will make it a longer and more tedious process. Use moisturisers the night before, not on the day of the appointment.

8. Dress breezy

By breezy we mean wearing something loose and comfortable. Avoid wearing jeans on the day of the appointment. Bikini waxing will make you a bit sore and could also chafe your skin. It is therefore better to wear something light and breezy so that you feel a bit comfortable down there and the bikini wax seems less painful.

Many people think Hollywood waxing and Brazilian waxing are the same thing. Both are similar in nature indeed, but there is one significant difference between them. If at the end of the wax, you are left with no hair, it is a Hollywood wax. Brazilian waxing requires giving instructions to the expert as to where you want the hair to be removed and as a result, you are left with a bit of hair here and there. Hollywood is less time consuming and saves you from the embarrassment of giving instructions on and on.

Now that you know the bikini wax hacks, you can easily make an appointment without the fear of not being able to walk properly after it. It gets better over time and you might think it to be worse than it actually is. Think about it and book an appointment soon.
